The new Community schemes for electric cars are being set up in Wales in an effort to provide people with better transport links in rural areas.
They have a car in a central location that people can book and use if they want to get somewhere when buses, trains or taxis are not available or cost too much.
A community car scheme was started in Corwen in Denbighshire last year.
Two new electric cars have also been ordered for rural areas in Gwynedd.
Others are viewed in the counties of Conwy and Wrexham.
Proponents say they can make it easier for rural people to do job interviews, appointments in hospitals, or just go shopping. But at least one settlement in Wales has been completed.
In Corwen, the electric car is a red Nissan Leaf, called Neli, organized by the South Denbighshire Community Partnership.
The bookings have been slow since the electric car arrived last October, but the organizers have used it as an additional vehicle for a community-dial-a-ride schedule when it is not rented.
Margaret Sutherland, chief officer, said the car was already successful.
"For example, we had people who wanted to go to an interview, they could get the job on the bus, but the interview was at a different place or at an inconvenient time," she said.
"Neli was able to help them, it's a three-year pilot project, but she has already proven her worth.
"Research showed that access to transport was a real problem for people in Corwen, public transport was declining and we wanted a community car.
"We are now promoting Neli with a major publicity campaign and now that we are on vacation, we have been interested in parents' homes with children during school holidays who can book her for days."
